If you are an absolute beginner in Spanish then you will want to focus on acquiring vocabulary first. Not only should you focus on acquiring vocabulary but you should focus on acquiring the right vocabulary.
The Spanish Vocab Grab, the second online spanish course I have developed for Spanish students, is now live.
What Is The Spanish Vocab Grab?
The Spanish Vocab Grab is an online spanish course designed to help beginners in Spanish. The course is for Spanish students who are just starting out with zero knowledge.
The course includes a daily video focusing on introducing 10 new words for each day. The vocabulary is then followed by some basic grammar to help form sentences. And at the end of the lesson a set of example sentences are introduced to demonstrate what can be said with the new vocabulary and grammar. The online course is delivered over 40 days.
Once the lesson is complete the students will get a chance to practice their new skills with a set of questions which are a combination of multiple choice, true / false style and worded text answers for a bit more of a challenge.
The vocabulary in the course was chosen for its high frequency of use in spoken Spanish and for its practical use to a beginner (based on personal experience).
Why Should You Take The Course?
If you are a beginner the course is a good progressive way to get started in Spanish. The lessons are reasonable paced and will you help you form useful sentences from day one.
By the end of the course you will have a good grasp of the most useful Spanish vocabulary and even be ready for a trip to a Spanish speaking country with the basics covered.
The course focuses on vocabulary before grammar. There is some basic grammar thrown in to help form sentences but if you are a beginner you will have a lot more fun forming sentences quickly with new vocabulary than you will if are bogged down in grammar.
Focusing on vocabulary before grammar is not only more enjoyable but will help you with confidence as well. Early confidence is important for developing momentum that will carry you through to higher levels when you are ready.
Motivation is a big challenge for Spanish students. Not only is it hard to find the motivation but it is also hard to find the time. The course is written so that each video is only 10 minutes or less. After the video the practice questions will also only take 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Finding the motivation and time for less than 20 minutes a day should (hopefully) be easy for you.
There is a real compound effect if you can sit down for 20 minutes each day. It’s much better to do 20 minutes a day for 7 days than one big long study session on the weekend. You stand a much better chance of absorbing and retaining the information and being able to use it when you travel to a Spanish speaking country.
The way the course is designed is that you do a new lesson every day. But of course you can go at your own pace if you want. You will get access to the course for up to a year after signing up so if you decide that you need a break halfway through ‘no pasa nada’ (no big deal).
For me, learning a new language was an amazing eye opening experience. I have learnt so much about another culture. I have had awesome adventures in Spain and got to experience the country in a way that most travellers who do not speak the language get to experience.
I wrote the course because I want to help as many people experience that same wonder that I experienced when speaking to someone for the first time in a language other than my first. There really is nothing quite like it.
The course has a free trial so you can try before you buy. If you love the course then you can continue on.
